Edisto River – Givhans State Park to Masservy Landing

Rate this post

Description: This is one of the best river tubing trips on the Edisto and by far the most popular! The river’s wide and slow in this section, there’s plenty of civilization (houses on the river), and there’s plenty of people. Park somewhere near the white house in the park (you can’t miss it) and walk down to the river behind it. Most likely there will be plenty of others for you to follow. If you plan on bringing alcohol, keep it in your coolers until you have reached the river and started floating. The park does not allow any alcohol consumption on-site.

The park also offers camping for a fee, so bring a tent and stay for the weekend!

Length: 3 miles

Cost: $5 per person to get into the park. Cash only and bring correct change.

Edisto River Gauge - Givhans State Park
Note: This gauge does not tell the depth of the water throughout the entire float. It is measured in a single place to give an overall idea of the height of the river compared to other days measurements.

    1. Jason, we float the Edisto 5-10 times a year and have yet to actually see an alligator. I know they’re out there, because we see signs of them, but I would feel pretty safe going during the day.

  1. The write up does not talk about how many Rapids and/or their size on any of these floats. I was hoping to spend time riding a few, rather than just slowly floating. Can you give some insight to Rapids.

  2. Don’t bring any alcohol is miss leading. You can’t drink in the park but you can on the river. So leave it in the cooler til you’re on the water.

        1. The time it takes to float this section varies depending on a lot of factors such as water height, how many times you stop, if you strictly float with the current or walk at times, etc… When we’ve floated this section in the past at 1-2 ft it’s taken around 5 hrs. We usually get to Givhans around 10 am with the intentions of being in the water by 11, so we have plenty of time to stop or play around and still get out well before dark.
